Volunteers Update – June 2022

Murrumbateman Field Days Set Up

Thank you to everyone who has already completed the volunteer registration on the MFD website. And a special welcome to those new to this MFD Volunteer Email Bulletin.

With only a little more than 100 days before the event, preparations are starting to ramp up as exhibitors, performers, caterers, local community groups and others are locked in.

Did you know that running the 2022 Field Days will involve at least 190 volunteer shifts that equate to more than 600 hours of volunteer support? This doesn’t include the working bees leading up to the event. The volunteer contribution is enormous and critical to the success of the Field Days. We are working hard to ensure all volunteers have an enjoyable and safe experience at the event.

If you would like to volunteer for the 2022 Field Days, and haven’t already registered, please complete the registration form on the MFD website. We’d also be grateful if you could encourage your family, friends and colleagues to volunteer. During the next couple of months, we will be promoting the Field Days and encouraging more volunteers to sign up.

Registration is important as it lets us know how to contact you, your availability, what roles you are interested in and whether you have any special requirements. It also allows us to prepare the volunteer rosters in early September so you know the shifts you will be working, and we have enough time to identify and address any gaps. And registration gives you access to the new volunteers’ portal and regular email updates.

The new volunteers’ portal, accessed through the MFD website, is due to go live in early July 2022. The portal will contain information about what each volunteer role involves, the volunteer rosters, the MFD volunteers code of conduct, the volunteer induction form and our policies on work, health and safety and other matters. We will also use the portal to keep you updated on the preparations for the Field Days. We will let you know by email each time content on the portal is updated.

One of the significant changes at this year’s Field Days is the move to online tickets only. Going to a cashless entry system means we no longer need ticket booths, cash floats and acquittals, or additional security guards. And removing the need to handle cash is more COVID safe for volunteers and visitors.

Until next time, stay safe.
