Murrumbateman Village Bus Shuttle

Back by popular demand, the Murrumbateman village bus shuttle will operate over the weekend. The bus will leave from Jones Park, outside the Field Days west gate, head down the Barton Hwy, turn right into Macintosh Cct and Isobel Dr, travel the full length of Merryville Dr, before heading down South Street, along Camp St into Fairley Estate, past the school and back into Jones Park. The first bus leaves Jones Park at 0800, and then will leave on the hour & half-hour. The last bus leaves Jones Park at 1745 on Saturday and 1645 on Sunday to get you home after the site closes. This is a hail service, so just stand at a prominent position/intersection/bus stop on the route and flag the bus down as it comes along. The circuit takes approx 30 mins, so use the map to estimate the approx time the bus will pass your house. Times may be variable, but don’t worry – a bus will come along every half hour! We have two smaller shuttle buses manned by volunteers – so just give them a wave! To note there will be no pick-ups on the Barton Highway, first pick-up will be at Murrumbateman Winery/Kinsman Dr. The bus driver will take a lunch break around 1230-1330, so plan your lunchtime departure accordingly. Keep an eye on the Murrumbateman Notice Board on Facebook for any updates/changes. Download the bus poster here

The Countdown Is On: Check Out the Final Lineup!

The countdown is on as the final line up of events for the weekend is announced! Tom White, Manager of the Field Days, said: “This year, we have an exciting mix of farming equipment and agricultural exhibitors, along with family favourites like the Hawkesbury Working Sheep Dogs and Noah’s Racing Pigs. We have a great mix of old and new technology, with the Yass Antique Machinery Club showcasing their historic farming equipment, and over 300 exhibitors presenting many of the latest Ag Tech products. It’s a fantastic way to explore the past, present, and future of agriculture.”  New for 2024, the Telstra Tech Alley will highlight the impact of technology on rural communities and showcase how cutting-edge innovations are revolutionising farming practices.   The Komatsu Demonstration Area is now bigger and better, featuring hands-on experiences with the latest Intelligent Machine Control and GPS technology. Visitors can even try the excavator simulator and test these advanced machines before making a purchase.  Kids will have a blast in the Hutcheon & Pearce Fun Zone, where they can drive a John Deere pedal tractor, while adults can test their golf skills with the ‘Big Putts Challenge’—a thrilling twist on traditional golf using a compact excavator to putt a giant ball. It’s a great way to entertain the family while checking out the latest farm machinery.  What else is on?  There’s plenty of extra excitement beyond the main attractions. Visitors can enjoy stage entertainment featuring local musicians and dance troupes. For the little ones, Outback Pony Rides and the Kids Farmyard Trail offer fun, hands-on experiences. Witness Brumby demonstrations that showcase these magnificent horses, and younger children can enjoy the Old Kentucky Animal Farm for a hands-on encounter with farmyard animals. There will be agricultural drone displays on the oval, while Durkins Amusements provides a range of rides, including dodgem cars, the Cha Cha, a giant slide, cup and saucer rides, and a jumping castle. Additionally, livestock exhibitors will be showcasing their adorable Babydoll sheep and impressive Galloway cows, making for a well-rounded day of family-friendly activities.  Over 16 community groups will be providing catering and event services across the site, to ensure visitors have a great day out. Last year, the Murrumbateman Field Days—run by the local Murrumbateman Community Association—ploughed nearly $70,000 back into the Yass Valley community, thanks to volunteer support.  Adult day tickets are $25, youth are $12, family day passes are $60, and kids under 10 enter for free. Concession and weekend passes are also available. Tickets can be purchased at mfdays.com/tickets.
