Golden Gumboot Challenge Returns

After a 28-year-hiatus, the Murrumbateman Field Days Golden Gumboot Challenge is coming back this year…. and we are looking for the past winners! The Gumboot throwing competition was a firm favourite at the Field Days in the mid-90’s, but was soon replaced with Boomerang throwing. It even involved a failed Guinness World Record attempt… but never the less the lengths thrown were very impressive. Whilst rummaging through our archives, we found an old gumboot trophy from 1995/96. With the help of local historian, Tim the Yowie Man, we have managed to identify the past winners of the men’s, women and children’s competitions. We are now inviting back the 1995 and 1996 winners to defend their title – with a free entry to the Field Days for all past champions! Can you help find them? Surely some are still in the Yass Valley and Canberra region? 1995 winners Ladies: Vicki Brown (24.16m) Men: David Spackman (33.6m) Under 12’s: Luke McMillan (25.6m) 1996 winners Ladies: Kerrie De Britt (22.81m) FOUND! The Murrumbateman Field Days Event Guide is a valuable resource for all visitors. It’s handed out to all attendees and shared online (both on our website and social media). Buy tickets early and enter our scenic flight giveaway

We are giving away a free joy flight for two people at this year’s Murrumbateman Field Days thanks to Snowy Mountain Helicopters. To enter, simply purchase your ticket online to the 2024 Murrumbateman Field Days before midnight on Sunday, 6th July 2024. One booking equals one entry into the draw (regardless of number of tickets purchased). The winner will be chosen using a random number generator and announced on Wednesday, 9th October.
